We’re in debt again. Yay!

Before closing on our house today, we had zero debt.  No credit card debt, no student loans, no car payments, no mortgage.  It felt good.

Now we have a mortgage.

But we also have a house.

This feels better.

Momentous

We got a big tax return.  A really big tax return.  It was a function of many things:  Jake was born, Frank never adjusted his withholdings after Jake was born, and I only worked for six months out of the year, but taxed at a rate assuming I would gross a much higher amount.

Some of it will go toward our house savings account.  I’m thinking we might take some of it and buy a king-size bed, because right now we have a queen, and while it certainly isn’t small when we first go to bed, by morning it can have up to two more bodies in it and then we definitely yearn for a bit more space.

But I also just took a good hunk of it and paid off the last of my student loans — the only outstanding debt we have right now.  When the payment goes through on Monday, we will have absolutely no debt.  Pretty cool.
